In a buzz to set a strong foothold at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona, HTC took a different path. The company has announced a new successor of its flagship phone, HTC One, that will be released a month after the MWC, on 25 March.

HTC has reportedly sent invites for an event scheduled on 25 March, that will be held in New York and London, likely at the same time. HTC One was universally appreciated and got decent reviews, yet the smartphone failed to impress a good market share with its all-metal body design and various features. The phone competed with the Samsung's Galaxy S4, and guess who lost?

The new phone is speculated to feature a brushed metal body with a 12.7-cm (5-inch) full-HD display, powered by a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB RAM, and may run on Google's latest OS, the Android 4.4 KitKat.

Apparently, HTC has also launched a new program called the "HTC Advantage", which offers bonus services for US owners of HTC One series. The company, via the program, guarantees to replace one cracked screen for free within six months of purchase, support Android updates for two years and provide extra Google Drive storage of between 25 to 50 GB for two years from the date of purchase. The offers is limited to US only and on devices such as HTC One, One Mini and One Max.

HTC's sales have not been very good and its is likely that the Taiwanese company may be counting on the success of its next flagship device. In a market where the domination of Apple and Samsung is very evident, HTC is struggling with deteriorating sales and profit. Earlier this month, Samsung sent invites for an event presentation at Mobile World Congress on 24 February. The company plans to unveil the Galaxy S5.
